What is day trading?

Day trading is the process of buying and selling stocks or other financial instruments within the same day. Unlike long-term investing, day traders seek to make profits by buying and selling stocks over a short period of time, often just a few hours.

Day trading can be a very profitable venture, but it is also a very risky one. Before getting started, it is important to understand the basics of day trading and the risks involved.

There are two main types of day trading:

1. Intraday trading – This is the buying and selling of stocks or other financial instruments within the same day.

2. Swing trading – This is the buying and selling of stocks or other financial instruments over a period of two to four days.

Both of these types of trading involve buying and selling stocks or other financial instruments, but they are done over different time periods.

Intraday trading

Intraday trading is the riskier of the two types of day trading and is one of the most popular types of trading. It's a short-term form of trading where you buy and sell stocks or other instruments within the same day. Typically, you'll hold a stock for a few minutes or hours and then sell it again.

Intraday trading can be very profitable if you're good at it. However, it's also a very risky form of trading. If you're not careful, you can easily lose money.

Before you start trading intraday, you need to learn as much as you can about it. There are a lot of different strategies you can use, and you need to find one that works best for you. You also need to be comfortable with the risks involved.

Intraday trading can be a lot of fun, but it's not for everyone. If you're not comfortable with risk, you should probably stay away from it.

Swing trading

Swing trading is a more conservative strategy than intraday trading. With swing trading, you hold your positions for a longer period of time, typically two to four days. This gives you a chance to profit from short-term price movements, without taking on the high risk that is associated with intraday trading.
